As far as the durability of this shredder goes, other than the occasional need to replace the threaded rod and the nuts I think this tool will someday be an antique since there is absolutely no reason for it to ever break although a harder threaded rod and softer nut would most likely be a good idea to keep any scheduled maintenance to a minimum
